A few days ago I bought a course “Introduction of the Art of Modern Calligraphy” by Molly Jacques, which you should definitely check, and I fell in love with calligraphy.
Now I find this useful infographic with the basics of calligraphy, including tools. In case you want to try your skills you should try to do those exercise.
In both cases, (the classes from molly and this infographic) they ask you simple tools to begining your training:
- Pen Holder
- Nikko G pointed, 303 and 404 Nibs (but you can find packs including pen holder like this one)
- Black ink
- Semi Transparent Layout Bound (recommend by Molly)
- Calligraphy Lined Guide (optional)
Books.
In case you’re most an analog vintage retro-old guy, and you prefer to read a real book that stuck your nose in a monitor these are cool option for calligraphy beginners (the last to images):
- Modern Calligraphy: Everything You Need to Know to Get Started in Script Calligraphy.
- Mastering Copperplate Calligraphy: A Step-by-Step Manual
Here are the last useful links:
In case you’re lazy or calligraphy simple isn’t your thing download the font (used on this post): http://myfonts.us/8eK7dW

Exploring the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, India
For more photos and videos from the temple, browse the #Meenakshi hashtag and explore the Meenakshi Amman Temple location page.
In the center of Madurai, the oldest city in India’s southern state of Tamil Nadu, the Meenakshi Amman Temple stands as a mythological and architectural symbol of the region. Initially founded in ancient times and rebuilt to reflect urban planning methods around the 17th century, the Hindu temple is dedicated to the legendary Goddess Meenakshi and her husband Lord Sundareswara (also known as Parvati and Shiva).
The 18 hectare (45 acre) temple complex consists of 12 pyramid-shaped gopurams, or traditional gateway towers, which measure as tall as 50 meters (164 feet) in height. These towers are erected along the outer and inner walls of the temple and are decorated with thousands of carved figures from roof to the floor, each representing gods, demons, heroes and animals appearing in Hindu myths. Other attractions of the premises include shrines for Meenakshi and Sundareswarar, magnificent hallways and the Golden Lotus Temple tank. The temple is home to around 50 priests and a number of annual Hindu festivals, making it an active place of worship as well as a major tourist attraction of Southern India.

Innovative Design, Visionary Ideas
… [We] dream of cars that will float and fly, or run on energy from a laser beam, or travel close to the ground without wheels. Such research may border on the fantastic, but so did the idea of a carriage going about the country without a horse.

Kodewa Performance Motorcycles, under license by car
manufacturer Group Lotus has announced that the prototype of the world’s first motorcycle to bear the legendary Lotus marque is now road registered and ready for action.
“I was one of the first people to ride it and I have to say I was very impressed,” said Güther Holzer, CEO of Holzer Group, one of the supporting developers of the Lotus C-01 motorcycle.
“Together we have found that delicate balance between raw, aggressive power and breath- taking handling. The team has created something very special, it looks incredible, it sounds fantastic but above all, the ride is sensational. I’m very happy.”The C-01 combines ample power via a V-twinengine
with a distinctive body designed by Daniel Simon integrating carbon fibre, titanium and aerospace quality steel. It should be noted that the C-01 motorcycle is not designed, engineered or produced by Group Lotus plc but is the result of a collaboration between motorsport veterans under the leadership of Kodewa, lead by Dr Colin Kolles. The development on the C-01 was carried out with the support of Holzer Group (co-owners of Kalex) and design guru Daniel Simon. Drawing on their wealth of motorsport experience, the team of engineers has designed a unique high-performance superbike.
The C-01 will be available in a range of liveries some of which pay homage to Lotus’ sporting pedigree. A customisation service is also available, limited only by the imagination of the client. With an exclusive production run of just 100 units, superbike collectors and fans of the Lotus brand will need to move fast to secure one.The original idea to create the C-01 came from Kodewa’s Dr Colin Kolles. Speaking about the project he said: “We set out to create a bike that isn’t just great to ride but also represents a piece of art in motion. Over the years I have seen my fair share of style over substance, what this bike brings to the market is a unique combination of both: state of the art technology with a truly jaw-dropping aesthetic.”
Designer Daniel Simon, known for his clean and futuristic concepts and unique designs in the filmindustry (Tron: Legacy Lightcycle and Oblivion Bubbleship) said, “The design process of the C-01 was a labour of love, there were many challenges, ensuring that the bike not only touches your visual senses with its timeless blend of classic appeal and modern execution, but that is safe and ergonomically sound was critical to me. We have worked hard to create a motorcycle with very distinctive features such as a clean main body, an extremely low side profile, a bold stance, a unique air intake, logical partline solutions and clean graphics.”
